Birthday Weekenddd!

My Wednesday of this last week was a crazy day because I was trying to get everything done before Thursday!!!!! I took my Book of Mormon midterm (which, for those of you wondering, it is SO weird to have tests on the Book of Mormon!?), had a history book to read, and meeting with my peer mentor (which I am happy to report, I will NOT be taking American Heritage as it does not benefit my major! YIPPIE!).
We had decided though that during open hours, some of the boys would come over to our room.  I bought food (to lure them over ;) and Cortney, Devin, Brian, and Isaac joined Shelby, Whitney, Emily, Lydia, and I for most of Batman Begins.  After 9, we had a homework party until 11:45, when Janel, Elise, Emily, Whitney, Shelby, Lydia, and I walked out to the tunnel by the Tanner Bldg and they sang Happy Birthday to me at midnight!

The next morning, Whitney left me the CUTEST scarf ever and Sarah and Blythe Spendlove left me a candy bar outside my room! So cute :) Everyone who knew took the time to wish me a happy birthday, which was always nice. :) I received a package from all my wonderful family back home with a bunch of randomness, which is my FAVORITE! Thank you family!! :)

That night we had decided to go to the soccer game but most of our guy friends went swimming.  We only stayed for part of the game and then that night Lydia, Whitney and I watched Psych. In the middle of the episode, she randomly went over and opened up my window. When I looked outside, Devin (on his saxophone), Cortney, Isaac, Brian, Ian and JJ from our ward were outside and started to sing to me! It was SO awesome and totally made my night :) I wish I had pics/a video but it was dark....funny side note though, girls on other floors opened up their windows as well! haha!

On Friday night, we had a GIRL'S NIGHT, finally! I love hanging out with the boys in our friend's group but man, I love my girl friends! We went off campus to Thai Village, it was SOOOO good! We ate family style and it was a lot of fun :) After, we went back and had a sleepover in our room! Lydia actually brought in her mattress and we fit five people in one small little dorm room! We watched the Mormon version of Pride and Prejudice which I fell asleep to! We finished the night with Divine Comedy.

The next morning, we all (except Shelby and Whitney) slept in till 11 (isn't college the LIFE!?). I had to rush to get ready for the game at one! The football team must have known it was my birthday weekend because...our seats were ROW TWO! It was AWESOME. Sooo much fun and PEARLY came with us as well as the normal crew! :) We won 55-3....and it still a fun game without the competition!

Well, my friends had planned something for Saturday night, but I wasn't told what it was.  So at 8 PM, I went down and was told to go in the vending machine room, only to find "12 of the hottest guys" in our ward, according to Cortney.  We got into cars and went off campus....when I finally figured out what was going on!? They had planned a visit to my first ever haunted house!? I was freaking out!!! We went to Provo Town Center and went to the haunted insane asylum!!!!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN despite the fact that it was suppose to be scary. Now, there were a few parts when I was scared but otherwise, it was hilarious because Whitney was so scared!!! Afterwards, some people paid extra to go on "The Last Ride" (aka reenactment of being buried alive, gross!) so a group of 7 of us went to Macey's and bought cheesecakes to end the celebration.  We went back to the Tanner Bldg (what else is new?!) and watched the first part of "I am Legend" which is a terribly depressing movie, just saying. After that my birthday celebration was officially over! But my new friends up here and friends from back home and family made it a GREAT birthday!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!!
Hugs and kisses,
Megan :)

Oct. 7-8

What a few crazy weeks. I have a ton to catch up and I realized that I never touch on my classes, so I should say a little more about thaaat, seeing as this is college and all.

But first. Let's catch up on the social aspect :)
Laura, Shelby, Lydia, Kenny, Emily, and I at the Temple!

So on that Friday, I finally went to the temple for the first time up here! It was crazy and so different than back home.  We walked over and it was raining, lucky us. But it was still kinda fun, just different. There were TONS of people so we were only able to do 3 names for confirmations and 3 for baptisms.  The Provo Temple keeps everyone on a tight orderly schedule, which was different as well.  But it was just nice to finally be in the temple and have time to ponder.
The boys always model...and so we talk pictures of them!
From left to right: Devin, Cortney (back), Brian,
Tanner (in the hat) and Swanson.
After the temple and dinner, we had decided to do the one thing on campus that none of us had done--bowling! I was talking to my friend Cortney and he and I decided that we needed to get off campus more.  So my group of 6 girls told like 3 boys to get people together to go bowling and then start making off campus trips.  We ended up meeting a huge group of boys from our ward! Basically, our friends had gotten all of their friends in their dorms and we girls were outnumbered. We first walked down to this old fashioned malt place and BOY was it good!? As we were walking back, everyone decided that we didn't want to go bowling (well the majority--I still did!) so we decided to go in the Tanner Building and watch "How to Train your Dragon." After the movie, we played Sardines. After the first round, Whitney hadn't found the first group hiding, so we were like well now everyone go find Whitney! Turns out, the boys (Cortney, Tanner, and Swanson) pulled a fast one on us and took Whitney out of the building!!! We couldn't find any of them and they finally told us they left! After that, we messed around outside for awhile (our friend Zack decided he was going to videotape EVERYTHING, and he did! even at the beginning of this crazy adventure!) but it got too cold to bear. So we went into May Hall because we realized the lobby wasn't closed yet. We ended the night by some of the guys walking us back to Chipman. We were up WAY late. But it was such a crazy fun night!

The Family at Los Hermanos!
Saturday was the homecoming football game!! Grandma and Grandpa were up for homecoming and they picked me up that night for Kevin's birthday dinner at Los Hermanos! Another trip off campus, woo! It was some seriously good Mexican food :)
Isaac and I...Denny's Round Two
Afterwards, we bundled up for the football game, starting at EIGHT at night. Freezing. Actually, okay, it wasn't thaaat cold. We started by sitting with our friends from our ward but then went to check out our seats.  It was only a few of us in the sports pass group, Sarah, Alyssa, Charlotte, Whitney and I. So at halftime, we went back to our ward friends' spot.  We squished in with them and it was way fun! The game, however, got boring cause we were winning so everyone turned their tickets into paper airplanes and tried to get them onto the field, in the end zone. It. was. so. funny! Afterwards, Cortney suggested we go to Denny's. So half of us went to get a table and the other half had to go back to the dorms.  When the first group got there, they received word that more people were coming! So when the other like 8 people showed up, there was a huge line....and they didn't get seated until after our first group was done eating...so we decided to eat AGAIN! We ended up staying at Denny's until 2 AM and finally went back and got to sleep by like 3-ish.
Me, Whitney and Charlotte!

Oh, the college life is for me :)

Craziest but Best Week of College (Thus Far :)

Yupp. The title says it all. It was one CRAZY week and I don't really know where to begin.

Aunt Kerri!!!!

Well, let's being with Monday :) On Monday I got a surprise visit from Kerri, D.C., Katie, and Adele! They came up and saw my dorm room (which was slightly clean for once haha) and then walked me to my first class! We got lots of "Awww's" on our walk but it was way better than walking by myself and my iPod!
Monday night is FHE, and this week we decided to combine with another family for another round of Missionary Tag! It was a huge game in a light rain on muddy grass by the library. So. much. fun!! I don't understand why that game is so enjoyable, but alas it is! After FHE, Lydia, Shelby and I had a study party in her room which turned into a Skype party with some of the boys in our ward! It started out with just Cortney and slowly turned into a room full of guys, being random and cracking us up!

This is what happens....the guys do something crazy and
us girls get out our cameras. Hence why we don't have
ANY pictures of ourselves!
But here is (from top to bottom)
Cortney, Will, Liam, Matt, and Brian
Tuesday was the opening ceremony of Homecoming, which is so much more legit than high school. Kerri and Don picked me up after my classes and we went to Tucano's. New favorite restaurant say what? For those of you who have never gone...it's basically a meat lover's heaven! It was so much fun and again, great to get away from campus again! Tuesday evening was the "light the Y" hike....however....many of us were lazy and decided instead to watch it from campus. So Lydia, Janel, Emily, Whitney, Cortney, Devin, Josh, and I went up to campus, bringing my guitar and like always acting crazy while watching the Y. It was fun and took away some of the stress of the week which was SO NICE.
After some "studying" took place, Lydia, Shelby, and Devin were having yet another study party outside (because it was after 12 AM and Devin could no longer be in the lobby haha) so I went and joined them. It felt nice to be with good friends and just smile and act crazy till 2 AM....yupp, college is great.
Whitney, Lydia, Shelby and I fell asleep
waiting for them to set up the video game.... :)

Wednesday is open door hours, so craziness always goes down. Shelby's computer was (and still is) dead so we (the normal group of girls) took it over to Cortney the technology master who said he could fix it. Unfortunately it has like 394083 viruses or something like that but all of us girls brought out our homework and got some of the guys to study with us! Towards the end of open hours, the guys showed us this video game "Amnesia" which is basically a zombie video game that freaks them all out. It was hilarious--not gonna lie. Definitely needed those laughs from the fun guys in our ward. :)

Me and Whitney all decked out!
Thursday was crazy cold. October brought COLD weather--and I'm not talking CA cold! I'm talking SNOW ON THE MOUNTAINS. It was crazy. And cold. Very cold. I layered up and got made fun of but it was COLD. No one studied on campus because it was raining so everyone was inside (unlike normal, when everyone sleeps, studies, cuddles, etcs. on campus). Campus looked deserted, it was really odd. But the best surprise of all....I walked out of my Book of Mormon class at 2....and IT WAS SNOWING!!!
The "Y" was still seen!

Okay, not really, more like freezing rain, or sleet, or ice, or something but it wasn't just rain! And it all of the sudden turned freezing!?! Luckily, Grandma and Grandpa came and took Whitney and I to Brick Oven Pizza, so it was quite warm! It was great to see them as well!
Well, because we're crazy kids, we decided to go to the soccer game that night....BAD DECISION. It was sooooooooo cold and the seats were wet....but it was actually still fun! We left at half time and instead decided to go have another study party in the boy's dorm...which meant no one got anything done!! I went to bed "early" that night....like midnight...haha :) Did I mention I love college??

Well.....this past weekend was GREAT....but I think that'll be another post. It's now midnight and Whitney's been asleep for awhile....and I should follow her example :)

Night!

General Conference Weekend!!

Another crazy week for me, so I'm late blogging about the past weekend!
Conference was great and dramatically changed my life for the better. I had a change of heart, revisited priorities, and am back on track!

But General Conference was such a different experience at school than home. For the Saturday morning session, a group of 6 girls from our floor came in the basement and were joined by 3 other girls from Chipman. The best part of the morning session was when President Monson's talk. When he announced the *second* Provo Temple, there wasn't a dry eye in the room.  The Spirit was so strong in the dingy basement room and it definitely strengthen my testimony of temples.

For the afternoon session, we watched in the lobby. We were forced to pay real close attention because the vending machines were soooo loud! I turned into a really good lip reader!

After the priesthood session, our group of 6 girls (Katie, Emily, Whitney, Shelby, Lydia and I) got a group of boys together and went in the Tanner Building (a huge 7 floor building near the dorms). Emily rented the movie R.E.D. and we messed around in the one of the classrooms watching that. We started Forever Strong but got kicked out at 11:45. But, being college and all, instead of going back to the dorms to sleep, a plan was formed to play a game of rugby....IN THE SPRINKLERS. Which turned into just messing around in the sprinklers and getting soaking wet at midnight!...which turned into missionary tag on the muddy slippery grass! Best. idea. ever!! Instead of directly linking arms, you would practically run into them and hope to grab their arm or hand to avoid slipping! We finally ended around 1:30 AM when Jonathan had fallen one too many times. It was seriously one of the best nights yet!!

(not pictured: Emily, Cortney, Jonathan, Josh)

Me and Lucy!

We watched the Sunday morning session in the basement with our "new" group of friends. After, we had lunch all together in the Cannon. I left midway and watched the last session with Kevin and Julia! It was a lot of fun and odd to be around little kids again. But I was nice to be off campus and having a home cooked meal!?

When I got back, I went over to the boy's dorm for visiting hours where we watched the Best Two Years in their basement- which was fun as well as a "spiritual end" to the conference weekend!!!

Best. Game. Yet.

I can’t even begin to tell you the emotions that ran through my mind last night at the game.  Okay, that sounds cheesy….but honestly. The game last night was INSANE! One of my friends from California was watching the game and keep laughing at our….great QB.  Seriously. As many as you probably know our offense isn't the best this year. No one can complete a pass or catch the ball and don’t get me started about fumbling. (I’m a college student now so I actually get football J)

The best part about the games is definitely the atmosphere. Sure, it’s fun to watch the game on TV but being there is so much fun!  My sports pass group includes Whitney, Alyssa Adair, Sarah Freeman (a girl from Virginia who added to our group randomly), Charlotte Reinerger and her roommate, Blythe and Sarah Spendlove, and then two boys Abel and Alex (who I haven’t met).  The cool thing though is my dorm floor slaves come crash and join our spot! The first game Lydia, Janel (a girl on our floor who doesn’t have a roommate but is lots of fun to hang out with!), and Emily crashed and there was hardly any room! For the second game (after suffering the whole lost), Shelby got a ticket from Alyssa and came to the game!! No one came to that game which was too bad cause it was another amazing win with the 93 yrd kick off return touchdown! I definitely lost my voice and the following day my throat hurt like crazy!?

Emily, Abel, Sarah, Me, Alyssa, and Whitney!

So…last night’s game…I was really tired for some reason.  The game was not very crowded and it was only Whitney, Alyssa, Sarah, Abel and I, with Emily crashing our seats.  Towards the end of the third quarter, Whitney and I considered leaving because we were losing.  We said that if Utah State scored another touchdown, we’d leave.  The game continued to go back and forth…Utah State getting to a fourth down and then BYU quickly messing up to give the ball back to Utah State.
Football. :)

SCHOOL SPIRIT/EXCITEMENT/UNBELIEF/AHH!
All of the sudden it was like three minutes left and we had the ball, first down.  We were ALL the way at the like 90-something yardline.  I was texting my friend Steven from back home and he was like it’s not impossible but it’s not probable.  We all didn’t think it was going to happen seeing as our team kept making dumb errors (such as not catching the ball in the endzone TWICE!).  The fans made everyone be quick by waving their arms like birds—started by Cosmo.  The stands were silent, everyone standing up.  No one wanted to breathe.  The anticipation was intense and the fear of losing was growing when we were SO close.  Our team practically walked the ball down the field, continuing to gain yards and more first downs.  With every first down, the crowds erupted but quickly got silent afterwards to give the players concentration.  We chanted to throw back in Riley (instead of Jake Heaps…LOL!) and I don’t know if they did (I’m not very good with the names of the players yet…. except for Jake Heaps because everyone yells at him during the game when he messes up! L).  Suddenly…we were SO close to the end zone and our QB threw it to a receiver….a Utah player got his fingers on it…tipped it into the arms of a BYU PLAYER!!!!! THE STANDS ERUPTED. We didn’t even know if it was considered a touchdown yet!!!!! Our little group was gathered by Abel in a big bear hug!!! We were screaming—and I mean screaming.  I didn’t even know what to do!! My legs were shaking, my lungs were screaming, my voice was hurting, and I was getting hugs from random people! Thirty seconds left. No one thought it would happen.  In fact, Steven had texting me saying it’s over-you lost.  And THEN the touchdown happened and he sent me…lol jk…!!!!!! Our team kicked the field goal. 27-24. 11 seconds left and we kicked it off.  This guy sitting behind us was from Utah State and was like I believe! It can happen! We were like YEAH RIGHT. Needless to say….
WE WONNNNNNN!!!!!!
And then….EVERYONE STARTED RUSHING THE FIELD.
So being the new freshman…what did we do? WE RUSHED THE FIELD.
Rushing. The. Field. Everyone had their cameras out haha
We jumped over the railing and run onto the field, still screaming. We ran over to the circle set up by the football players.  A player on the team was being lifted into the air (I’m assuming whoever made that amazing play!!) and people were on others shoulders, just trying to see what was going on.  We started chanting BYU BYU BYU. It got nasty and hot down there fast but we were just so caught up in the excitement.  Even typing this I’m getting chills thinking about the feelings I felt!!!!! Then we tried to get out of there….took forever but was SO worth it!!!! We walked back in the streets to the dorm and went in screaming and yelling! Everyone came out (thinking we were others making noise) and were shocked to see Emily Whitney and I yelling.  We celebrated at the creamery.  There was loud music going on and one group of kids had a random dance party with an amp!  BYU partied haaaard….just kidding! We watched a movie as celebration.  It was crazy.  My voice is gonnne.  But the game was just so worth it! I love BYU FOOTBALL…when it’s amazing like that! J
